EXPLORE INTERNET MARKETING PROGRAMS (THINK, PLAN, EXECUTE) Life changes quickly, are you prepared?
I worked as a Software Consultant back to back on contracts for over seven years. However, I am always at the mercy of recruiters and agencies who find me work. Two month ago, an agency made a critical error in getting my contract renewed and I was left unemployed for close to two month.
On the upside, I will be returning to work shortly. On the downside, I lost two months of wages, accumulated credit card debt and had those many desperate and anxious moments that everyone in my position has.
Crisis is a great motivator and I tried desperately to find work online, I got a few odds and ends, but nothing that would get me back to my income level. I was confident I would get back to work, but I told myself, that once I went back I would never allow myself to get back into the situation I had gotten into. So I started THINKING, how can I supplement my primary income and have a buffer if something like this happened again.
Well, while looking for work on the internet, I came across the websites of online course teaching people to make money on the internet. There were so many of them, it made my head spin just reading all the stuff on websites. I subscribed to a few and began getting e-mails regularly. Yikes! I spent so much time reading the material, I had to do my job hunting and work late at night.
Finally, I made a decision, I could not spend the rest of my life reading marketing material, I had to bite the bullet and do something. I made a PLAN and started executing it:
1) I checked out online booksellers for books on making money online. Selected one, it was easy, since most online booksellers have reviews against their books.
2) I read the book from cover to cover. The book was great because it reviewed many online programs from simple to the more complex affiliate programs.
3) I bought two courses (not the one’s recommended in the book), but because they were cheap from the Internet – total cost $20.00 (they were not great, but I learned the basic of how to make money online.)
4) I also invested in 25 domain names – they are all dot COMS and some of them are great names. (No I am not crazy…I’ll tell you why I got so many later.) Total cost around $325.00 so far. You can buy a domain name from an auction site for something between $6.00 and $25.00 (for a really nice one).
5) Finally, I bit the bullet and enrolled for an affiliate program recommended in the book for around $75.00. I also got a website with the program and have to pay reasonable quarterly hosting charges.
So this was my PLANNING stage and I had spent close to $450. You may ask me how much money I have made so far. Well nothing. But this is not a bad thing, since I have done nothing so far that will allow me to make money.
So now I am almost there, I am ready to EXPLORE INTERNET MARKETING. How will I do this?
1) What I bought was an affiliate program – it gave me a marketing website and the tools to market the material to others. I am confident that I will shortly be earning commission on my sales.
2) The 25 domains I purchased – I will be developing these, I am hoping that the content I provide on the sites and the affiliate products I sell will give me a stream of steady revenue. I will re-invest, buy and develop more sites as I go along.
This was my plan of action. I know many readers out there don’t want to spend $450.00 – so what’s the best way to start.
Quick Start
1) Get a good book on Internet Marketing and read it from cover to cover. I recommend The Code by Joe Vitale and Jo Han Mok – it will save you hours of surfing and reading marketing material on the web.
2) Decide on a couple of affiliate programs that you may think are good for you. You can now read the marketing material on these to make a decision as to which one you want to go with.
3) When joining an affiliate program, make sure you don’t spend excessive amounts of money paying for a website. I got everything for around $75.00.
4) Also make sure you can communicate with the person who owns the master rights to your product, it is very important to have support for something you sell.
5) Once you have been setup as an affiliate, then improve your knowledge; learn how to market your product and website. Your master product owner should also be able to provide you with some support.
6) As you make money from one program, you can then think of re-investing in other program, buying domain names, developing sites etc.,
Use your time wisely; there are too many distractions out there. Making money on the internet is possible just THINK, PLAN and EXECUTE.
